TUCKTEC 10' FOLDING KAYAKS

Freedom!

I am a small 5’1, 115 lb woman so when my ex left I found myself very limited since I don’t have roof racks or the physical strength to maneuver my big kayak. This gives me the freedom to kayak whenever I please and get back to my favorite pastime!

It took 4 months to come in. With Covid and the crazy world, this isn’t great but it’s to be expected. I work in manufacturing so I understand the difficulty with supply-chain issues. The first time folding is difficult but after folding all of the seams a couple of times it gets much easier. I didn’t time myself but I have no complaints with the time it takes (took longer to load/unload my old one safely from racks with help). It’s very wide so it’s stable but not the fastest. Great for a calm lake or river. Easy to maneuver since it’s so light. The seat I got only has one seat cushion and the back, I might add some more cushion at some point. I had to keep adjusting the strap for the back of the seat as it stretched throughout my first ride but there is plenty of adjustability in the strap.

So far I am very happy with this purchase. Thank you tucktec.

Glad you are enjoying your Tucktec! Thanks for the review!

Stabilizer bars

I purchased these bars as I wasn't sure how stable the kayak would be. I used them the first time I took the boat out. It seemed much more stable than I expected. The second time I went out I forgot the bars! The boat was fine but it was flat water. The bars do create some drag but if the water is choppy, I will put them on.

Awesome

Tucktec is amazing ! Never fails to put a smile on my face you can be paddling all around your local and state lakes under appropriate conditions asap ! Wanted a kayak for 1 year or 2 but didn’t wanna rig up my car , and I’m also into the whole minimalist kind of idea so as soon as I laid eyes on it I had to have it bought it two weeks later . Y’all be safe have fun

Christmas gift!

We purchased a kayak for our son as a Christmas gift. Everything looks good so far. We will write a better review when he receives it! The company shipped it quickly and packaged well. So far so good! Thank you TUCKTEC!

So far so good

It's too late to try it out this year, but we bought it after a friend raved about hers. It was shipped quickly and communication was great.

I am so in love!!!

First time out people were coming over and asking about it! It’s so portable - I can’t wait to spring to take it on some kayak camping trips! I will definitely be buying another one for my husband!

very nice and useful complement to the kayak

The "thingy" was as stiff as the kayak which means it took me a lot of muscle power and time to "assemble" it but after a couple of times it gets a little easier. The stabilizer kit does not work on my refurbished kayak which was probably an older model but I thought about what to do with it and with a little modification I now can use it as side "protection" inside the kayak for my legs and it actually works very well.the rest of the bundle I haven´t used so far.I think that the oven might be useful as a stand/ground protection for one of these one-time grills available since it is probably too small to be used as a cooking device. All in all I´m very satisfied with the bundle and the carrying bag is very nice with room for cords, gloves and other small accessories. How durable it is time will tell but if you are in the process of buying a kayak why not invest in the bundle as well. Maybe the company should include a t-shirt in the bundle so that you "have it all". Thank you again for a great buy ! best regards Peter in Sweden

Tucktec baseball cap n folding sunglasses

Both are great products! Really like them and the quality

The Kayak sets up nicely and feels good quailty but my paddle unfortunately didn't get made properly as the connector that joins the left and right side of it does not function. The two sides just dont line up with eachother properly so they cant connect. Ill probably be able to fix it with my own tools at home. Otherwise Im happy though and after a maiden voyage Im sure I will be happier

Boat bundle

Because of winter upon us, I was only able to kayak one time since I purchased. What I did use, the kayak carry bag, hat, dry bag, worked well. So far super excited about my kayak purchase. Looking forward to the spring and how it performs going forward.

I am glad that this bag was on sale when I purchased it. It fits the boat ok, but if you put anything else in it — paddle, stabilizers, for example — the straps are not long enough to connect with each other. I had to rig up some bungy cords to go around it to shut it the bag with the paddles and the stabilizers inside. It’s not bad and will be easier than without the bag, but it’s just a pain that the straps are not long enough.

Great so far

I bought this kayak to take out on the water fishing. Since I drive a sedan, getting a traditional kayak was not an option. I saw this and knew it was a good choice. Plenty of great reviews on it attesting to its stability and durability. I've only taken it out one time so far, but boy was it great. Had a blast fishing a local lake on this kayak. Good speed and easy to set up. I'd definitely recommend getting a microfiber cloth of some sort to wipe it off if you will be landing the kayak somewhere there is loose dirt or sand.

Built both of my new kayaks and let them sit overnight. Will have to wait for spring for our maiden voyages. The Facebook groups are very helpful.

One paddle in the books

Glad I got my kayak just in time to get one paddle in before the weather turned. So glad I did. What a great recreational kayak for my lifestyle. You don’t need to be a gorilla to carry this beaut or do car gymnastics. All my kayaking friends are intrigued and can’t wait to see it in action in the spring.

The life jacket fit both my younger brother and myself comfortably, although I havent been able to test its floatability. Will buy again

Canvas carry bag

Great extra piece to have. We don’t fold our seats up in our kayaks just put them in the bag along with our extra gel seats. Great for storage and keeping our car clean after a paddle. I get using the strap from the kayak to carry but would be great if the bag had its on carry strap.

Finally launched it!

Had the kayaks for a couple weeks before we were able to launch them. Found a spot on the lake, put them together in about 10 minutes and launched! Easy to assemble…albeit a little tricky since it was the first time. Took a quick 30 minute jaunt I. The lake and back home. Worked as advertised and look forward to many more trips on the water!

Not working good at my point of view

The paddle made me work twice harder than the others. I exchanged the paddle with a friend and I was fine. My friend said I was right. I would prefer to have a better paddle and pay for it. At the end I had to buy one.

3rd review sent in.

As I stated in my first two reviews, my experience did not match my expectations. Because I was convinced I wanted to purchase two of them, I somehow missed that there were two options for the 10' model. I purchased two Lite versions which was a big, big mistake.
The Lite model should not even be offered. . .maneuverability is so impaired by not having a skeg. I have to figure a way to add one.

The first folding was extremely difficult, with bruises and scrapes to show for it, and that was with an ambient temp of 79 degrees. I had previously helped my son first-fold his pro model Tucktec and it was nowhere near as difficult.
After using my son's I thought the concept was great, but now, I wonder.

Love these kayaks

So my wife and I purchased 2 of the Tucktec kayaks so we can enjoy our local lakes and State Parks. It was warm outside when we first received them which helped in initial setup, but it did take some breaking in. I would suggest bending the creased areas in a little to help with getting the clips locked in. Once setup, I had them stay locked in place overnight just so it could bend into shape, which seemed to help a lot.

Once we took it out though, these kayaks were extremely stable. We have the stabilizer bars as well and I would highly recommend adding those if you plan on fishing or bringing the dog out. My wife and I have caught many fish and our dog just loves going out with us. I would say that this boat will do just fine in light wake. The skeg helps a lot in tracking and the anchor Tucktec sells does hold (Super light at around 1 lb). The seat functions and works, but since we usually go fishing for 2+ hours at a time, we upgraded to a different one. If you’re looking for shorter casual trips the included seat works and is comfy for just padding. Since we fish we need to move around a bit to setup lines, tackle, releasing the fish, etc.

I was really pleased about the space you have in the 10’ Pro kayak. I can fit my net, tackle, dry bag, 2-3 rods just fine.

I can’t speak to long term durability, but we have taken this out 3 times within the first week and seems to be holding up fantastic. I plan on taking this with me when I travel internationally so we’ll see if it holds up to the baggage handlers.

The “thingy”

I didn’t realize how hard it was to do. I still can hardly, if at all, get the bottom to “pop” in. I understand it needs to be worked like the kayak, but it is not an easy thing for me. I don’t have a lot of straight anymore. I’m on a trip and do not have the opportunity to return it till I get back in mid November.
