I am a small 5’1, 115 lb woman so when my ex left I found myself very limited since I don’t have roof racks or the physical strength to maneuver my big kayak. This gives me the freedom to kayak whenever I please and get back to my favorite pastime!
It took 4 months to come in. With Covid and the crazy world, this isn’t great but it’s to be expected. I work in manufacturing so I understand the difficulty with supply-chain issues. The first time folding is difficult but after folding all of the seams a couple of times it gets much easier. I didn’t time myself but I have no complaints with the time it takes (took longer to load/unload my old one safely from racks with help). It’s very wide so it’s stable but not the fastest. Great for a calm lake or river. Easy to maneuver since it’s so light. The seat I got only has one seat cushion and the back, I might add some more cushion at some point. I had to keep adjusting the strap for the back of the seat as it stretched throughout my first ride but there is plenty of adjustability in the strap.
So far I am very happy with this purchase. Thank you tucktec.
Glad you are enjoying your Tucktec! Thanks for the review!
I got a refurbished model, but I don’t believe it had ever been folded before. The video to put it together leaves out a couple details that needs to be shown, but once you put it together the first time you’ll be fine. It’s fairly stable and easy to carry. Would recommend
Easy to assemble Only took five minutes easy to carry strong. Very happy to purchase this.
I really have no complaints it’s a very solid paddle which was free with my order so I didn’t quite have high expectations but it seems really sturdy
The first time setting up was not easy. But after that, you can enjoy the full range fun of kayaking. No worries of loading up and done from a car. Also very stable and fast on a river.
I placed order for two kayaks, received one and when I asked where the second was they said only 1 shipped in error. They sent the second but refused to overnight. Week later finally had both but when we put in water it leaked as there was a hole. They shipped a replacement but did not overnight ship.
The customer service replied quickly and actioned corrective measures. Very impressed with Johnathan. He is the reason I am not giving this a lower rating.
The free paddle that came with my Tucktec kayak fit the kayak well and didn’t drip hardly any water into the boat. I was also surprised by how comfortable the shaft of the paddle was to hold.
These things are awesome. They provide so much stability. I was in some pretty choppy waves today and I noticed they also seem to serve as splash guards. I haven’t tried my tucktec without my stabilizers but honestly, I’m not sure I want to. So glad I bought them.
Today was my maiden voyage on my kayak and it was wonderful. So easy to transport, set up and loaded to get on water in under 8 minutes, and it performed well. It got attention at the boat dock! I look forward to future outings on water. Only adjustment I would make is to my seat as it was rubbing bare legs a bit and back was not at height I enjoyed. Still would not discourage me from highly recommending and buying in future for my children to join me out on the water.
The 10' Tucktec is a great introductory kayak for flat water. It's stable and tracks well. The foam seat is comfortable and footrest make for comfortable paddling. Folding and unfolding can be a challenge, especially early on before the pre-cut folds have been worked back and forth a few times. However once out on the water it handles surprisingly well.
The nylon strap that holds the footrest to the body of the kayak broke loose when re-folding it for the first time. This is the most fragile connection on the kayak, and it's worth taking extra care with this portion during assembly and disassembly.
I took it out on the water for the first time today. It floats! I folded it once when I got it, and for the second time today. I almost gave up on the last latch, but then it was finished and I got it in the water, all by my 56 year old self. My second time ever in a kayak, and I am hooked!
First time buying a kayak and loving my purchase already. Great value for the money. Got the stabilizers and can definitely tell a difference with and without them.
I really got this bundle because I wanted the stabilizer kit, but with the other items it wasn’t too much more than purchasing the stabilizer kit alone so I decided to get the bundle instead. Great deal! I have used all the items and glad I went for the bundle.
I've been using the 2023 8' model for a few months, now, and I can really appreciate how well thought out the design for these things are. Extremely durable (dropped and bumped into things many times) and very easy to pack up. Great for lakes and reservoirs without too much rough water, and perfect for short paddling trips on the weekend. I got a golf club travel bag with wheels, and I can fit my kayak, paddles, and PFD in it. Really increases the already great ease of use!
I am 77 and have kayaked for 40 years. I thought my kayak career was over until I discovered Tucktec. Lightweight, easy to transport and setup. I no longer have to load and carry my 50 lb kayak. Thank you Tucktec.
1. Literally the best customer service out there. Hands down.
2. This is why.
3. The kayak was great. Was. I thought assembly was actually quite difficult, and the videos weren’t all the helpful. It didn’t show thing slowly, and didn’t provide tips on how to assemble, because the folds are SO hard, even my husband couldn’t get it done. (And I’m not weak, I frequently lift 50-75 bags of garden stuff and go to CrossFit.). Eventually, after about 8 times on the water, I could get all the latches shut, minus one, and thankfully I always had someone to help. Those are my biggest complaints.
4. The kayak itself is fantastic, there’s so much room, it’s easy to clean, and things fit exactly where they need to be. Very adjustable. The seat is actually quite comfortable. I would suggest a thicker bum pad to put over your seat just to raise you up, if you’re a person under 5’8 or so. Makes it easier to paddle without hitting the sides (unimportant problem, to be honest)
5. On about the 8th time out, I went to fold the bow and one of the creases literally snapped. Just ripped and essentially made the entire kayak unusable. Insert customer service. I sent three pictures to the chat, and asked what my next steps are, and before I could practically even breathe, they had processed my problem and shipped a new one out.
6. Overall, problems happen, and this is THE company you want to deal with if you ever have one. The product is quite good, very safe, quite easy to assemble (eventually), and I am recommending it to everyone I know. ESPECIALLY their customer service.
Instead of hauling around a kayak on top of my car during my work day I get to keep my kayak in my back seat! Whenever I have spare time I take it out and even fish small ponds in it in Indiana. I love taking my 4 year old out on it frog fishing and just enjoying the water. Easy to assemble in warm weather. Cold mornings make it harder to assemble but it still gets there.
Kayak works really well and FANTASTIC customer service. Best $200 I’ve ever spent.
The kayak is amazing and surprisingly sturdy in the water. I’ve only set it up twice so far and each time felt like an Olympic sport but I’m sure as the creases wear in a bit it will get much easier.
Really appreciate the kayak. Customer service is perfect. I had a problem (hole) and they sent me a replacement. I choose Tucktec because of the 3 years warranty.
First time on the water (beginner here). It was fantastic and easy to use. Simple set up, tear down and storage. The ride was smooth and stable. We used ours to fish out of as well. Customer service is amazing, kind and prompt. Can't say enough about yhe enyire experience. Especially Can't wait to go again...we are telling everone about Tucktec!
I bought this kayak as a birthday gift to myself and I absolutely love it!! I will be replacing the seat cushion as it got uncomfortable after a long period of time.
People said it wouldn't float...I'm here to say we tried to push it into the water to clean the bottom and it took full strength of 2 strong adults and we barely got water it..it is BOUYANT. It's a real crowd pleaser, everytime we bring it out people literally flock with questions. I can't comment to the longevity of it yet as we've only used it a handful of times, but so far so good. The plastic is a lot more flexible after you use it a few times which is good because the first time putting it together was a full body workout. I can set up 2 by myself in under 10 minutes. 4 Stars only because shipping took a long time, but hey I get it. The seat is surprisingly good for a kayak seat, again hoping it stands the test of time! We had an issue with our paddle and it was mediated by Tucktec literally instantly. Really great customer service!!
Tried and loved the kayak. Easy to setup portable and relatively sturdy. Going to enjoy many hours in this boat
