I took mine out on it's maiden voyage this past weekend at Beavers Bend in OK. Love it. Only problem is I am having trouble getting the sides locked in. Hopefully it will get easier each time it is assembled. I am an older woman and I am going to have put a better seat in it because of my back. If you do not have back problems the seat if fine. Had several people ask me about it. They had never seen one before.
We purchased 2 beauties for our cross country trip to visit our children living in Banff, Alberta and British Columbia. Your kayaks made kayaking in Rocky Mountain lakes possible. We did have an issue with one, waited until we arrived home to follow-up.
In awe and with respect and admiration your customer service is as quality as your product. I am so impressed that I will write a 5 star review (I normally don't write reviews), and I will tell all my friend. P.S. I appreciate your new 2021 assembly video. Cheers to you great team!
Now a believer. This was a great invention for those weekend warriors and do not have big spaces for storage or carriers for their vehicles. Quite unique as well. We bought 2 2021 models. Just need to upgrade the seats. Otherwise we love them.
I got 2 (blue and dark yellow). When I received them I got the kids and we put them together quite easily but I was missing the straps that hold the backrest up. I sent them an email and Kevin replied back saying they would send me replacements out right away. However I took the kayaks out with makeshift straps cause I couldn't wait and they worked flawlessly. As a beginner they are quite stable and track very well compared to the inflatables we've used and most importantly the kids enjoyed them. They are made with pretty thick material and I have no doubts they will bring us many years of enjoyment.
I've had my Tuctec for over a year now and WOW. I've put it through the wringer and it's held up wonderfully. The portability is fantastic (it fits in either the trunk or back seat of my corolla). I use mine like a canoe, I just put the seat all the way against the back. I couldn't be happier! It doesn't get quite the miles-per-paddle stroke of a solid yak, but it's decent. VERY stable - I have used it like a stand up paddleboard. I easily stand in it fully upright while throwing a 10' cast net. The way it flexes actually lets you get into areas even a standard yak has difficulty with. I've literally paddled through 2-3" of water, plus gone over water-surface logs a standard yak would never make it over. I am SO glad I took the chance and bought this. I can't recommend it highly enough.
Well designed kayaks. We bought after friends recommended and we love them. Easy to assemble, convenient travel with and compact to store.
Ontario Canada if full of little lakes and the Tucktec kayak is a great design. Taking it our on our first voyage, people stopped to see what we were assembling. Its design definitely stood out among all the other water boats on the lake. Was happy with its performance. Bought the 2 kayak deal and had a good time with my son. Great product.
I just received my first two kayaks and I had a great weekend with them!! Those who saw us putting them together or packing them up were amazed by such a unique concept. One thing I will say is “the cotter pins are important”! I love that I can just put these kayaks in the back of my SUV or car and go - no roof rack or trailer. I will be ordering more so I can invite my family and friends. Thank you for a great product TuckTec!
I want to thank Kevin at Tucktec specifically for going way above and beyond to help me get my kayak in a timely manner! Everyone is stretched thin during COVID-19, so thank you all at Tucktec for doing what you can!
Also, this kayak is incredible and I absolutely love it. Easy (if a little awkward) to assemble the first few times and fits in my compact car. I'm obsessed with this kayak and very grateful for the great customer service!
I ordered two of these, one for my granddaughters birthday and the other for myself. Many Thanks to the guys at the shop for making it possible for her to get a pink one. Then Before our first use my 9yo granddaughter had an accident and required a full leg cast (she will be fine soon). But we needed to see if she could get in and out of the kayak with the cast on, so we tested her in the swimming pool. She didn’t have any problem at all! Got right in with someone holding it still for her. Both granddaughters are very excited to explore Cape Cod in the kayaks this summer vacation. Thanks Tucktec, for building a great product and making it convenient to bring on vacation. Your customer service is the best, I had a question, and received a response within hours of sending photos. It’s so nice to buy from a company that supports its product and answers the phone in person.
I LOVE my kayak!! Perfect for me to carry & transport to the lake!! It’s perfect!!
I also purchased a 240cm paddle which makes it easier to paddle!!
Love these. Bought 2 in Spring 2021. Have used them a couple times a week - so easy to put together and I'm a 5 ft, 57yo female - healthy but not super fit!
Few tips :
We found the seat tended to slide a bit of you braced yourself with foot rest as you paddled even with the strap tight but we used the carrying handle shortened to appropriate length clipped to the strap metal rectangular metal "slots" on the base of the kayak and around the back of the seat. Kept it from slipping back! Also we added some padding to the handle slots that are cut outs at the front and rear of the kayak from car steering wheel circular replacement pad, cut into pieces and glued or sewn around the narrow part. 👍Now they are really perfect!
I broke into water today
To find me alone in the water again.
To discover what beauty means to me,
To feel home in the water gain,
I broke into water today.
65 years ago, I broke out of water
To see the world.
Today, I broke into water again
To find who I am,
To know what I do.
This 66-year-old great grandmother is able to put this together, canoe for the day, And then unfold it. I live in an apartment so this was perfect. It has been sitting in my closet since February. But now it’s going to be out at least a few times a week. Believe the suggestion when they say let it warm up and sit in the sun to fold it. It is difficult in the beginning but it gets easier each time you do it. I was trying to add pictures but it wouldn’t let me.
Hitting middle aged and not as spry as we once were, my spouse and I have decided to take on leisure kayaking as a hobby. We decided on the green and dark yellow Tucktecs and took them out twice this week. What great fun and the stability of the kayak was impressive for something that can folds up and fit in the trunk of you car. We did upgrade our seats and added a rope to help us in and out, but overall it's a great, affordable investment. We're super happy customers!
